Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver

Pedal Info

It's rare for any company to develop a "game changing" product, but that's exactly what happened when Andrew Barta founded Tech 21 and launched the original SansAmp over twenty years ago. Created before the advent of guitar amp modeling, the SansAmp proved that good tone and analog solid state technology weren't mutually exclusive. The original SansAmp turned heads and was used by numerous guitarists and producers who wanted classic tube sound without classic tube hassle. Nearly two decades after the original SanSamp, Tech 21 is still turning heads. The SansAmp Bass Driver DI is a specialized SansAmp aimed at bass players and includes a host of features specifically designed for those who hold down the low end.

The Bass Driver DI contains controls for Level, Blend, Treble, Bass, Drive, and Presence. The pedal includes a slew of input and output options, including 1/4" input and output, XLR output, and parallel output. The outputs can be configured for either instrument or line level. A single LED indicates pedal status and the pedal can be powered either by a single 9V battery or an external adapter.

User Reviews

User reviews for the Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI are nearly all positive, with just a few isolated complaints. Users laud the sound quality, comparing it with the finest tube and solid state bass amps they've played and owned. This particular SansAmp is not designed to emulate only one specific amp, so bassists report that they are able to emulate numerous types of amps, including Bassman, SVT, and other tube and solid state amplifiers. For players using the pedal in both studio and live environments the output options are welcome features as well. Players even report excellent results when using it either as a stand-alone unit or in conjunction with various amplifiers.
